Frequently Asked Questions for Die Casting

The die cast metals we have aluminum (A380, ADC12, A360, A356), zinc (ZAMAK 3/5, ZA-8), and magnesium (AZ91D, AM60B) alloys. If you need a ferrous part such as steel, we’ll recommend sand casting.

Typically, we hold ±0.1 mm on the first 25 mm, with tighter tolerances achievable by finishing CNC machining on critical features. The final according to the parts’ structure and sizes, etc.

Die casting is most cost-effective at medium-to-high volumes because of the upfront tooling. There’s no hard MOQ, but parts usually make economic sense from around 1,000 pieces. For lower volumes, CNC machining is an alternative.

Tooling generally takes 4–5 weeks depending on complexity. After the sample is approved, batch production parts typically takes 7–10 days depending on order size.

There are 3 main factors: tooling (a one-time cost driven by part size, complexity, and number of cavities). Material (alloy type and part weight), and secondary operations (machining, plating, coating).

Choose die casting for high-volume metal parts with complex geometry and thin walls. Choose CNC machining for low volumes, prototypes, or very tight tolerances. Choose injection molding when a plastic part meets your strength and thermal requirements. We’re happy to advise based on your volume, material, and budget.
